What is a newcomer? Newcomer is a term commonly used in 12-step meetings for a person who has just started attending meetings. What is a newcomer interview? Before a newcomer attends their first meeting, two sober members of the SA fellowship meet face-to-face with the newcomer to describe the SA program in detail. Prior to the interview, it may help to review the following from the SA website: What is Sexaholics Anonymous? What is a Sexaholic and What is Sexual Sobriety? Test Yourself The Problem The Solution The Twelve Steps The Twelve Traditions Why is a newcomer interview necessary? In the tradition of Alcoholics Anonymous, meetings are designated as either Open (anyone may attend) or Closed (only members may attend). At this time, all SA meetings in the Buffalo area are Closed. In order to maintain the anonymity of our members, we do not make public the addresses of our meetings. We meet with the newcomer to verify that they qualify for membership. (Tradition 3: The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop lusting and become sexually sober.) How do I setup a newcomer interview? Call the SA Buffalo Information Line: 716-803-8565
